Issra came into her third pregnancy with a quiet but powerful hope: to finally experience the vaginal birth she had always wanted. After two prior cesareans, after hours of pushing, she knew the path wouldn’t be simple, but she was ready. Ready to advocate for herself, to trust her body, and to lean into the support around her.
Throughout her pregnancy, we focused on preparation, physically, emotionally, and mentally. We talked through her birth history, explored her options, and built a plan that honored her goals while staying flexible to her needs. When labor began, Issra chose a low-dose epidural, just enough to take the edge off while still allowing her to stay connected to her body and movement.
Her medical team was incredible, open, collaborative, and trusting of the doula-led support she had chosen. With their encouragement and my guidance, Issra was able to push in multiple positions: side-lying, semi-sitting, and even hands-and-knees. She listened to her body, stayed present, and moved with intention.
And then, after years of hoping and preparing, Issra did it. She birthed her baby vaginally, strong, steady, and radiant. The room was filled with emotion. Relief. Joy. Pride. This wasn’t just a birth; it was a reclamation.
Issra’s VBAC2 was a testament to informed choice, respectful care, and the power of believing in what’s possible. She showed up with courage, trusted her team, and birthed with grace. It was an honor to witness her strength and celebrate this long-awaited moment by her side.
